About Me:
Music is an instrument for teaching about life as well as the art. I teach you how to analyze the music from the beginning of our lessons so that you don't have to consult the teacher every time. I encourage creativity and individuality in your expression, and make it a point to connect music to other parts of your life so that new concepts are more easily understood. It is important to understand the story behind the music and how to make it your own story.
With children and beginners, I start with the fundamentals and build a strong foundation. I use my own notebook as well as children's repertoire from the masters. From there I move onto more advanced exercises and pieces from the classical, pop, and jazz repertoire. It's important for children to like what they are learning, so let them have a lot of input into the choice of music they learn.
