Tyler K., Voice Teacher, Chicago
(773) 360-0204
About Me:
With any teaching, there is a give-take relationship between the student and instructor that fluctuates in both directions. I find that teaching is just as rewarding as learning. I, myself, am still a student and in no way could consider myself a master. I am educated on many different subjects and styles, yet I still have a lot to learn. My pledge to my students is that I will never make you feel inadequate or dumb. I am extremely patient because that is how I would like to be taught to get results.
Styles:
Rock, Blues, Jazz, Fusion, Funk, Folk, Heavy Metal, Musical Theatre, Gospel, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Latin, Rockabilly, Country, Bluegrass
Subjects:
Harmony, Theory, Ear Training, Songwriting, Arranging, Jazz Music History, Rock Music History
Ages:
Elementary School, Pre-teen, Teenage, Adult
Availability:
I'm from the Lakeview area, but I will teach anywhere accessible by CTA.
Major Influences:
Since I graduated from Berklee College of Music, I can sing solfege and read vocal music. In my soloing I make it a habit to sing along with the lines I play similar to George Benson and Jimi Hendrix. I find that most soloists don't actually listen to what they are playing and the result is a terrible solo. All instruments are imitating the one true instrument; the voice. If one can't sing, how can one expect to make song.
