About Me:ShowAs a private teacher I try to balance intense and meaningful work on the fundamental aspects of trumpet playing with music that the student will enjoy studying. Conquering the physical demands of the trumpet requires a great deal of focus and careful attention to details. Since this can be an onerous task for a beginner, I try to use graded etudes and melodies as a vehicle in which to address these issues. At the same time, my teaching embraces many different methodologies as well as the key element of flexibility in order to meet the needs of the individual student. Additionally, I encourage my students to listen to various genres of trumpet music in order to develop an ideal sound concept as well as to better grasp the tremendous possibilities inherent in their instrument.

The development of the upper, "clarino" register, by specialist trumpeters, would lend itself well to the Baroque era, also known as the "Golden Age of the natural trumpet."
