About Me:
I place priorities in building strong technique, and musicianship. Understanding weight mechanism and use of motion are important aspects in creating a beautiful tone. Intense listening skill is also important as students form their own understanding of musical phrasing and the subtlety of the different timbres. From the elementary level, I bring up the topic of weight translation and finger techniques using familiar songs. For intermediate level we will discuss different styles, theory, and history.

Major Influences:
I received classical piano and composition trainings and have studied classical piano repertoire as well as ensemble, orchestra works from classical period up to contemporary western works. I am influenced by music of the 20th century including Arnold Schoenberg, Giancinto Scelsi, John Cage, Earle Brown, Morton Feldman, as well as free improvised music, electronic music, and sound sculpture.

Experience:
- Multi-Media performance piece for piano, video, and live sculpture: Untitled (2008). Music composition, concept, and video by Ann Adachi. Performed at Brookline Tai Chi, Brookline, Massachusetts. [2008 - 2008]
- Ensemble One is an acoustic ensemble of strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments. The group performs original compositions by the members, that focus on sonic experience and its relation to the environment. Ensemble One performs monthly through out New York City. [2007 - 2008]
- Piano Instructor-Boston, Massachusetts. From beginner to intermediate levels. [2003 - 2006]
- Light in August is Ann Adachi(flute), Gregory Raynolds(saxophone) and Corrie Befort(dance). We produced number of multi-media performances that were presented in Japan, Seattle, and in New York. [2004 - 2006]
