About Me:ShowI feel that music is a necessary, life-enhancing experience which should be nurtured in all individuals, not only in those gifted with high musical aptitude. According to Howard Gardner, music has unique properties as a form of human intelligence that is a part of the whole person. For some individuals, musical intelligence is a primary way of knowing. For all individuals, musical potential can be developed in the same respect as linguistic, logical, spacial, and bodily intelligences. Music provides a knowledge system which allows individuals to interact with their inner and outer worlds. What drives me to teach music is that I love working with children and I love making music everyday. I teach private lessons every Friday and Saturday. I love to hear my students play their instruments and see them get passionate about what they are doing. I love to see and hear their improvements week to week. I also like learning new things. I like taking on new tasks such as learning a different instrument or new technique. I love to express to my students my love for doing new things. I like that they teach me new things also. In my music program my students will learn to appreciate many different types of music. This will involve experiencing music of different time periods, cultures, and how music links with other academic subjects. Younger students especially benefit from being exposed to a broad spectrum of music since it helps them develop a good ear, an open mind, and they later understand different musical forms, meters, and tonalities. Through a well developed music program, the future of our society will be more accepting to the diversities of the world and have a better understanding of those who are different.

About Me:ShowLearning music is a process through experience and application. When a student experiences rhythm and sound application of these experiences through guided learning achieves successful playing. Students learn through seeing and playing what is seen. Then they learn to understand what is being played. What is on the page, what the composer put on the page, dynamics, phrasing than learn to express the message of the music. I use age appropriate material to encourage student's personality and tastes.

About Me:ShowIt is my experience that learning to play the guitar begins with learning to use your body as it relates to the guitar. I teach proper use of the hands but also the body as a whole. I develop exercises custom made for each student that focus on the aspects that the student needs to develop and at the same time developing the students musical expression and quality of sound. When the student's body is used properly and the quality of sound is high, the student's musical expression can really come through and shine.

About Me:ShowThe most important element of good singing is building a solid vocal technique FIRST. While stylistic elements can and should be incorporated in the lesson, a singer, regardless of genre, needs to have a mastery of their instrument; this includes learning breath control, resonance, articulation, vocal agility, register blending and range development...all this while maintaining good vocal health. Creativity is another essential element for developing musicianship; consequently, emphasis in lessons is placed on learning theory / ear training.

About Me:ShowTeaching is like anything else, you need to put in the time in order to become better at it. There is a certain method or art in teaching that through time, develops as you work at it. My attitude is this: each person deserves a custom-designed method for their individual needs. Some people start out on their instrument knowing absolutely nothing about music. Others can remember things like sight reading or tempo from classes taken during their school years. These variables need to be recognized and a student needs to be developed using their strengths. I try and keep my lessons informative and flowing smoothly. I keep in mind there are a lot of instructional videos floating around on the internet. I have seen some of them and there are certain benefits in watching these videos. However, I firmly believe nothing takes the place of a good lesson one on one. Not only does it personalize the learning process, but it makes it more fun and more hands on. Sometimes, in order to keep my lessons productive, I pretend I am videotaping myself. This way, I concentrate on spending my time wisely and getting my information across as clearly and concisely as possible. I also concentrate on keeping the lesson fun and interesting in order to stimulate the student to want to come back for the next one.

About Me:ShowI truly believe that no two students learn the same way. I love to make my lessons very personal to the student's unique personality and style. I teach just about every style of music from classical to pop to musical theatre, and can help train the ear to hear what makes each genre unique in its own way. I spend a lot of time on healthy vocal technique: Breathing, diction, range, musicianship, and making the voice sound its absolute best! I love to challenge my students, yet create a fun and positive learning environment!
