About Me:ShowI like to combine all aspects of music education, not just technique and music reading, into my teaching approach. Often times, students are simply handed a book and are told to play. These students do not get introduced to theory, ear-training, pitch recognition, composition, performance techniques, general musicality, and fundamental setup (breathing, embouchere, finger/hand position). By combining these topics with high level instrumental technique training, I bring out the best in a student.

About Me:ShowI place priorities in building strong technique, and musicianship. Understanding weight mechanism and use of motion are important aspects in creating a beautiful tone. Intense listening skill is also important as students form their own understanding of musical phrasing and the subtlety of the different timbres. From the elementary level, I bring up the topic of weight translation and finger techniques using familiar songs. For intermediate level we will discuss different styles, theory, and history.

About Me:ShowI think the most important thing to take away from a music lesson is to have fun! The joy of playing music and discovering new sounds is what captured my imagination when I was a young child, and I always try to impart that joy to my students. Music shouldn't be a chore - it should be a fun, exciting experience! When teaching, I work to help students to progress toward their individual goals, and strive to provide a positive and inspiring learning environment.
