About Me:ShowMy approach is to base the teaching of music and learning of the guitar primarily on the music the student feels the most passionate about. The first thing I usually teach students is how to play a song of their choosing. I use the song as a means of learning about theory, technique, ear training and all of the other important aspects of music. I believe that understanding music on its most fundamental levels is extremely important. That means understanding more than just how a song relates to the instrument its being played on (i.e. the guitar). The study of intervals, ear training, form in music, rhythm, and harmony are all very important in gaining a broad, deep understanding of how the language of music works, and I enjoy taking interested students down this path of study.

About Me:ShowThere is no one method for teaching music. However, structure is important and of great value for a musician among musicians. As a teacher, I look to build upon a student's natural strengths, whether that be an ear for music, a passion for a particular type of music, or the ability to read, write and decipher written music. At the same time, I find value in approaching any weakness in different ways to produce a well-rounded student that can eventually flourish as a professional musician.

About Me:ShowMy approach to teaching is simple: Anyone can make music. Like most of us have learned how to speak and write in at least one language, we can do the same in the language of music. The main obstacle is time - and we can overcome this with dedication. My part in the lessons is to show you what and how to practice to become fluent as soon as possible - and your part is the dedication to practicing and making music your new language, and believing that you can and will play!

About Me:ShowMy teaching method is generally based on the blues which I consider to be the fundamental element in understanding all modern styles of music. I incorporate ear training by studying specific soloists, and by teaching their solos. I teach all levels and styles of modern American music, from jazz standards and solos note for note, jamming Hendrix or Led Zeppelin (and understanding their roots), or playing acoustic folk. Whether your goal is jamming on the back porch or playing concert halls, I will help you achieve your goals.

About Me:ShowI have a very simple philosophy: learning must be fun. I enjoy helping students discover their unique voice. I work with music that the students love. It gives me great pleasure to be able to explain it to them so that they can gain a deeper understanding and of course build the technique to play it well. I see myself as a guide on the student's journey. I provide them with the tools they need to play from their heart.
