About Me:
Whatever the student's level, I try to incorporate a varied approach, keeping the music fun and lively. I think that to teach at least the basics of harmony and theory, and a general understanding of the structures and systems within music is essential. In other words, I do not believe in "learning by rote", but try to incorporate a creative approach using chord knowledge, listening "games", etc. The more the student understands, the more creative, personal and free they can become with music!

Interestingly, composer Johann Sebastian Bach did not like the first piano he was introduced to in 1730, claiming that the higher notes were too soft to allow a full dynamic range. The criticism was apparently heeded by piano builders. Bach did approve of a later instrument he saw in 1747, and even served as an agent in selling certain builder's pianos.
