About Me:ShowThere is no one method for teaching music. However, structure is important and of great value for a musician among musicians. As a teacher, I look to build upon a student's natural strengths, whether that be an ear for music, a passion for a particular type of music, or the ability to read, write and decipher written music. At the same time, I find value in approaching any weakness in different ways to produce a well-rounded student that can eventually flourish as a professional musician.

About Me:ShowI have been a private music instructor for almost a decade. Not so long ago I was a shy 10 year old kid who wanted to learn Nirvana songs and was fortunate to learn from someone who could relate to me and make playing the guitar a lot of fun. My students enjoy lessons not just for the opportunity to study and create music, but they also appreciate a positive and fun environment I tend to put forth. My primary goal is to help people accomplish personal goals they are pursuing and not to orient them to what I consider most important.

About Me:ShowI am a graduate of the Purchase College Conservatory of Music. I have been playing Bass and Guitar for 20 years. I approach teaching music from the perspective of the student, putting the most emphasis on their interests. The most important thing is to keep things exciting for the student, so they can feel like they are achieving the goals that they originally set out to accomplish.

Education: Music Composition and Studio Engineering (BA), SUNY Purchase [1998]
About Me:ShowI like to get to know my student's individual interests before devising our approach. I will borrow methods from Suzuki or particular books, if I think that it will benefit the student. All of my lessons touch on history, theory, and ear training. As we dissect particular lines or passages, I believe that the importance of knowing why we are learning is as important as training ourselves physically. Most importantly, music should be fun! I encourage my students to keep reminding themselves what drew them to music in the first place.

About Me:ShowMy mission as a guitar player has always been to create music as pure as possible. Studying the masters is great, although in my teachings I also stress the importance of having a strong understanding in music theory, something I gained from my degree obtained at Hartt School of Music and something I intend to better by working towards my Masters. As a teacher I like to incorporate these concepts into the process of learning songs so that the student gains an understanding for these theoretical concepts while enjoying the act of making music.

About Me:ShowI have been a guitar and bass teacher for more than 8 years, and I've had the great opportunity of teaching students of all backgrounds, ages and levels of expertise. I recognize that each person is different, has a particular taste, and, most importantly, has a way of learning that is unique and must be addressed individually. As a teacher I am very encouraging. I challenge my students' talents and skills and offer them the highest quality instruction catered to their musical preferences.
