Karen S., Voice Teacher, Westchester County
(914) 380-3116
About Me:
I have had the great pleasure to perform for 22 years on the Operatic and Concert stages here and throughout Europe as an Opera singer. This was an irreplaceable and valuable experience in that I really learned how to work together with colleagues, and staff for the benefit of staged productions. Another huge benefit of performing all of those years is that I learned what it was like to work under direction from many stage, and musical directors from different countries around the world.
Styles:
Classical, Opera, Musical Theatre
Subjects:
Ear Training, Classical Music History
Ages:
Pre-teen, Teenage, Adult
Availability:
I teach in all of Westchester County; north and south, and Putnam County. I also travel to parts of Connecticut including Cos Cob, Ridgefield, and Stamford.
Major Influences:
I have been influenced by many great classical artists. Among them were the two great opera singer's Luciano Pavaroti, and Joan Sutherland. Two R&B artists who I also admire are Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Duke Ellington's music, and many of his soloists such as Ella Fitzgerald, have been a great influence.

I've studied with Karen for more than a year, now. I can honestly say that I have gained a whole new insight into what it means to sing with a perfect vocal technique; free flowing, with expressive lyrics. She really made learning fun and interesting. I would recommend her strongly to anyone who is seriously interested in taking their voice to the next level.
Sincerely,
Debbie M.

I have known Karen Smith for over 30 years and during that time I have watched her grow into a consummate professional. Over the years I've watched Karen's determination, drive, professionalism, dedication and integrity propel her career in a positive direction. Throughout her career, whatever she sets her mind to she has achieved with courage and conviction; and I have not doubt she would do the same with any and all future endeavors.
