With a background in the study of Music Therapy, I believe firmly in every person's inherent ability for musical communication. It is my goal to, through patient and flexible teaching, allow students to come to find their own voice in the music they play. With a background in classical fingerstyle guitar I am able to teach students the techniques they need to establish the strong foundational skills they need to learn to play whatever it is they want to play.
In particular, I enjoy working with young beginners. With experience in elementary school teaching I understand the particular needs of young students and have gained the skills necessary to teach them in a way that works for them. Through patience coupled with a deep love for sharing music, I can teach you or your children in a way that will make music a fundamental part of your life. With this experience in education, I understand the process of learning a new skill, and am able to help you to better improve your musical skills.
Also, as a student of psychology with extensive independent research in the way music affects the brain, I understand the process of learning an instrument from a scientific point of view, as well as the countless benefits that this learning can provide.
