About Me:
Since 2010, I teach people of all ages and all levels how to better sing and express themselves through music. I provide students with structure and encourage them to explore. I set high expectations for my students, yet remain flexible and open-minded. My students can expect to achieve a healthy, balanced musical practice and to live out their aspirations for performance. They are encouraged to discover themselves as musicians, developing a skill set that can take them into a professional career if they so desire.

Recently, I returned to the US after teaching at the Global Music Institute in India, an innovative music school in New Delhi connected to the Berklee College of Music. My experience as a performer has taken me to Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, across the nation as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz," and across the globe as a jazz vocalist. My work as a composer has been featured at Yale University, Berklee College of Music, the Raindance Film Festival, on New York Public Radio, and with members of the Philadelphia Ballet.

Ages:

5 out of 5 Great and talented teacher - September 30, 2013

By Jonathan - NYC, NY, Voice Lessons

Warm, sweet, and talented. A very good teacher who can adapt to all styles of students.

5 out of 5 The best vocal training experience! - September 30, 2013

By Josh - NYC, NY, Voice Lessons

Julie is as warm and welcoming as she is trained and talented. She cares not only about training your voice, but about making you feel better about yourself and your abilities through the process. I left every lesson feeling refreshed and renewed in my desire to improve my vocal abilities, and I left feeling like I had a bit more control over my voice and my breathing. In the beginning our lessons focused on breathing properly, and then we moved on to improving sight-reading and singing. I still use many of the vocal and body warm-ups that I did with Julie before I sing or perform. I recently moved to LA, otherwise I would continue taking lessons with Julie for as long as possible. I strongly recommend Julie as a teacher and suggest you try out a lesson with her!

Julie is a young, understanding and excellent instructor who's talents, motivation and creative exercises collaborate to make a fun and inspiring environment. I can honestly say that every time I finish my lesson with her, I feel more free spirited, relaxed, accomplished and peaceful with myself. I look forward to every lesson.
