Influences: Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Dave Stryker (my teacher), Peter Bernstien (my teacher), Joe Pass, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival, BB King, John Lee Hooker
My teaching method has two ideas at it's core: "Music is Easy," and "Go to the Source."
I am a patient and professional guitar teacher. I have helped absolute beginners of all ages up to semi-professionals to feel comfortable with the instrument and to unlock their love of music. They learn that music is easy.
My method can be described as "go to the source." I use the wonderful recordings we have available to us as my main curriculum. My focus is on being able to sit down and play something on the guitar, a complete song, whenever the mood strikes. I teach students how to listen to a recording to determine the important parts of the song; the parts that you can learn on the guitar that take you beyond basic open-position folk chords.
I learned to play because I was motivated by my love of performing music. This has taught me that The Music is the most important element in studying any instrument, therefore I have been able to overcome the difficulty of practicing and learned to enjoy the challenge. Since this is how I learned, I am able to show the student that the motivation to learn music comes from within. They will love practicing guitar because of the element of self exploration that music study offers.

Charlie is a knowledgable guitar teacher. He is very good with my kids and they respect him. I have noticed that the kids are learning well from him and their ability to play the guitar has increased tremendously.
Charlie's Review - April 25, 2012
By Jonathan - Brooklyn, NY, Guitar Lessons
I am totally satisfied with my lessons from Charlie. He is not only a gifted musician but also an excellent teacher. Charlie makes sure that I maintain proper posture, hand positioning and has provided me with numerous techniques to do so. The fact that we both enjoy similar music is a bonus.
