Instruments: Drums,
About Me:
Drummer from Cirque du Soleil's critically acclaimed show, KOOZA, is now accepting students. Here is a general overview of John's teach approach:
The only reason why we ever make the decision to play an instrument is because it is FUN! Age doesn't matter. Practice and learning can and should be fun and rewarding. That, in a nut shell, is the approach I like to take with my teaching and with my personal practicing.
I start beginners out playing the drums! Not on a practice pad or just a snare drum. We'll learn to play the Drumset. From there we will eventually encounter all of the necessary and essential basics.
With Intermediate students, we'll first evaluate their playing and also find out where their musical interests lay. Lessons at this level are usually a mix of fulfilling the students requests, coupled with essential musical and technical instruction. If the student is in a band, in or out side of school, we might also explore this in our lessons as well.
Advanced students who come to me for lessons usually come by referral or because they have seen me play somewhere and they might be interest in specific instruction. If you feel that you are an advanced player who is interested in refining some of your skills, I would be happy to meet with you. We will evaluate your playing, address your immediate interests, and I will more than likely suggest specific areas which may need attention and improvement.
What we have here is a general concept. It's important to remember that every student is different and likewise the teaching approach for every student will be different.
All you need to bring to the first lesson is an open mind. The rest is easy! I look forward to talking music/drums with you!
