About Me:
Graduated B.M. in Guitar and Composition from New England Conservatory of Music, Boston MA, 1979. Have performed, recorded, composed, and written songs in all styles, in New England and Internationally. Have specialized in WORLD FUSION with particular emphasis on applying many years of HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL study to my playing and composing. Have developed a customized 8-string fretless electric guitar with in mind to emulate the SAROD, one of the main string instruments of the North Indian classical tradition. First lessons were with Alexander Lagoya at Schola Cantorum of Paris France, and have developed a teaching method that emphasizes certain basic guitar techniques and capabilities which consitute a solid foundation applicable to all styles and genres of music and guitar practice. I believe that musicality and expression take precedence over technical considerations, although at the end of the day, it takes mastery of the latter to achieve the former. As pertains to mastering your instrument, my operating philosophy and work ethic can be summarized thusly: "Practice until you get it right, and then practice some more, until you never get it wrong."
