Philip is a freelance drummer and percussionist in New York City. Currently he is performing with singer/songwriter, Elizabeth Sullivan, subbing on the Off-Broadway shows, ‘Silence! The Musical‘ & ‘Sistas’ The Musical. Phil has traveled through out the United States playing drums on a variety of Broadway shows, most recently, ‘A Chorus Line’. Other touring credits include ‘The Wizard of Oz‘ and the 1st National Tour of Tony nominated musical, ‘The Wedding Singer’.
Philip has been teaching private and group lessons for over ten years. He has given Master Classes at the University of Auburn, Indiana University in Pennsylvania and has instructed many competitive marching bands and Drum and Bugle Corps around the
Philip studied percussion at the Purchase Conservatory of Music under Raymond DesRoches and Dr. Dominic Donato. He is an alumni of the Long Island High School for the Arts in Syosset, NY and The New York Youth Symphony. As a sophomore and junior at Purchase he served as the principal percussionist with the Purchase Symphony Orchestra and held the principal timpanist chair as a senior. Philip also had the privilege of performing the United States premiere of Soren Barfoed’s percussion duo, Safricana with fellow percussionist, Brian Rolston.
Since leaving the Conservatory of Music in 2004 Phil has performed in over 150 cities in 46 different states across America. Performing in some of the worlds most prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, The WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden, The FOX in St. Louis and The Chicago Theater to name a few.
