About Me:
Hello, thank you for taking a minute to read this brief bio. I have worked as a freelance percussionist and private teacher in the greater tri-state area for the last 15 years. Learning to read music and play the Piano has given me a solid foundation to be able to function as a professional musician during that time. Since my studies at The Mannes College of Music, I have integrated many of their techniques which are designed to facilitate the learning process and give each student a clear understanding of what they are learning. Each student is unique in their own way, and will therfore process information at their own rate. What is important to me(mainly for younger pupils)is the development of that critical thought process which will carry over into the rest of their lives. Learning to play the Piano or any musical instrument involves learning to focus your mind and control your body. It requires a persistent effort, perseverance for when it seems too tough, and patience with yourself. I certainly don't like to rush any one or push students to perform in a recital type of setting unless that's something which is desired. What most often happens within public school music programs is that the piano students end up playing instruments like the Xylophone,Marimba, Glockenspiel or other Keyboard Percussion instruments. These lesson will absolutely prepare any student for those types of challenges should that be the case. It is my overall goal to give each of my students a clear understanding of how Western tonal music works through great composers such as J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and many more. Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing from you.
