Instruments: Piano

About Me:
I was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to the U.S. when I was 2 years old. I began playing the piano at the age of 6 and from there have devoted my life to performing. teaching and studying music. I hold a degree in classical piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music and have since been performing and teaching primarily in New York City, occasionally traveling abroad to do performance tours. Teaching is one of my passions, and I love working with students of all ages and levels. My teaching philosophy is very simple; it is a combination of dedication, hard work and most importantly, enjoyment! Because each student is unique, I adjust my teaching methods to the needs of the student and work with their strengths and weaknesses. Being a piano instructor has been an invaluable experience to me; I have learned so much from each and every one of my students as I continue to grow as a musician.

5 out of 5 Wonderful! - August 24, 2015

By J, Piano Lessons

Myla is great. She is attentive and patient, and knows a lot. I try to be a perfectionist, and she is great at helping me iron out the smallest details in each piece. She also knows a ton of music history (which I ask her about) and I find that really enriches the pieces in figuring out how best to approach them and to play them. She's also funny and kind, and scheduling lessons with her has been an ease. I'm 30 years old and have had several music teachers for different instruments (at least 10 different teachers) and she is my favorite. I highly recommend her!
